Explanation for Question 2 From the Reading Section on the 2018 April Sat
Hey guys. So question two asks us the first paragraph serves mainly to establish 2 the blank. So whenever we hit a question like this, 3 let's just first things first, go back and reread that paragraph. 4 Paragraph run right up here, 5 pretty short one. So that's kind of nice. This says young chart to cough 6 was an artist of talent. So that's a weird name, 7 uh, was an artist of talent, which promised great things. 8 His work gave evidence of observation thought and a strong inclination to approach nearer 9 to nature. So it seems to just be saying some really good things about, 10 um, the young Tartikoff saying that he's got talent. 11 He very promising, and he has evidence that he has a lot of observation 12 thought and it closed, you know, close connection to nature in his work. 13 So the first paragraph says, manage to establish the ironic outlook of the narrator. 14 I would fully disagree with that. I don't think there's anything ironic about what 15 it's telling us. It's just telling us that he's a great artist. 16 These says the central conflict depicted in the passage. 17 Maybe the next paragraph we'll do this, but the first paragraph seems to just 18 be saying this guy's a good artist. That's not really our conflict. 19 Our conflict is the issue with his values. 20 So that's going to be wrong. Option sees as the main characters, 21 defining artistic traits. This seems to be directly what we just read that this 22 guy is a talented artist who is thoughtful, 23 observant, and has a connection to nature. 24 It seems to just be like giving us a quick description of him in 25 this short paragraph. So that seems like C should be right. 26 And this is the relationship between two characters. 27 This paragraph doesn't even mention another character. So it's definitely not that one. 28 So that makes us see our clearly right answer for.
