Explanation for Question 7 From the Writing Section on the 2017 May Sat
Question seven says which choice provides accurate and relevant information from 2 the graph. Our graph is in the next page and let's quickly read it 3 before choosing, um, 4 before looking at our answer choices. So the graph is titled employment 5 percent change in rural west from the 1970s to 2010, 6 from 1970 to 2010. And then we see that, 7 um, we are looking at the presents of county land-based federally 8 protected. So, um, 9 our x-axis is the percentage of, 10 um, jobs created Y while our Y here is talking 11 about how protected that land is. 12 Um, so if we look at our first 13 choice, um, 14 rural counties with more than 30% of their land, 15 so we're looking at this first bar more than 30% 16 of protected land, we see here that it increased jobs by 17 345%. 18 So let's go to our answer choices and see which one seems right. 19 ASSP saw job growth of more than 300%. 20 That's true, because we saw jobs grew about 345%. 21 So we're going to keep it as an answer choice, but we're going to 22 look at the other ones, B so slightly less job growth than those with 23 less than 10% of lands under federal protection. 24 We can see that that is the biggest graph. 25 Um, less than 10% federally protected was 108%, 26 which is not less than 345 C 27 how to rate of job growth at work instead of really higher than those 28 of rural counties in the Eastern United States. 29 We don't know that the graph is only talking about federally protected, 30 um, lands. And it doesn't just talk about rural counties in general. 31 So we can't use that answer choice and D saw job growth decline 32 from nearly 350% to just under 300%. 33 Again, we have over 300% is 345% and 34 they were increasing. So he can't say D so our answer choice is a 35 saw job growth of more than 300%.
