Explanation for Question 41 From the Reading Section on the 2017 May Sat
Question 41 says data presented on the map. 2 Most strongly support Lincoln's views that are like in his view that ancient European 3 farmers did. What? So for this question, 4 we're going to look and see if we can prove any of the answer 5 choices based on the graph. And then if we have to, 6 if we can't eliminate three out of the four, we can go to the 7 passage. We're just going to look at the graph first and see just because 8 it's easier to interpret rather than reading back through the passage. 9 So we'll just go answer choice by answer choice and see if we can 10 prove it. So the first one we'll look at is that ancient European farmers 11 had local European ancestry. 12 And if we look at this map, 13 we can see that that's not entirely true because you have shared 14 Y chromosome lineage with more of like 15 the middle east. 16 So it's not going to be only local to Europe. 17 And the reason that that's not the case is because if you have shared 18 Y-chromosome chromosome lineage, that means you had ancestors there. 19 So with that being said, answer choice a is disproven by this map that 20 it's not just local European ancestry. 21 If we look at answer choice B, it says that ancient European farmers traveled 22 as far as the British Isles. In this case, 23 if we look back at the map, we can locate the British Isles on 24 the map, which is over here, and then we can observe that it has 25 no color with it associated. 26 And so that would indicate that there's no shared ...
