[Video] Q10: Question 10 from the math (no calc) section of 2017 may sat

Explanation for Question 10 From the Math (No Calc) Section on the 2017 May Sat

For question 10, they want us to solve for Y and the above equation. 2 They give us a condition that w X and Z are greater than one. 3 Just to let you know that there's no negatives or no zero values so 4 that it doesn't like kind of mess up with the results. 5 The first thing we needed to do to solve for Y is get all 6 the terms that have a Y value on the same side. 7 So on the left, we have a w X, 8 Y, and X, Y, Z. And both of those have Ys on 9 the right. We have WX that does not have a Y, 10 but we do have YZ. So we want to make sure to move Isaiah 11 to the other side. So that it's all of the other terms with lax. 12 So we have w X, 13 Y plus X, 14 Y, Z. We move Z to both sides, 15 to the side, by subtracting it from both sides we have minus 16 YZ equals WX. 17 Now, these three terms all have Y so we can distribute out the Y 18 we distributed a Y we have WX plus X, 19 Y not like Y, 20 but X, C 21 minus Z equals w X. 22 Now the last step in solving for Y all we have to do is 23 isolate it. So we divide both sides by this entire thing 24 right here. So like w X plus X, 25 Z minus Z, and we get Y is equal to 26 w X over w X plus Z minus 27 Z, which is our answer choice D.
