The question is asking us whether the author 2 should keep or delete an underlying sentence. 3 So as usual, we're going to check to make sure that the sentence is 4 both relevant and factually correct. 5 It aligns well with the rest of the passage. So the sentence here says 6 the marble came from the quarries in Carero small town, 7 almost 80 miles north of Lawrence. 8 So this detail about the origin of the marble we're being asked, 9 is that important to include or not so important? 10 The focus of the paragraph overall is about the commissioning 11 of the statue, um, 12 and the sculptor that was chosen, 13 um, as well as this enormous block of marble that's being used to create 14 the sculpture. So previous sentences have highlighted the problems 15 with the block, talking about how we'd been quarried many years earlier, 16 how it had started to weather, how other sculptors had started to use it. 17 Um, and then it says that the sculptor was faced with trying to sculpt 18 a monumental statue out of a stone that was generally considered ruined. 19 So this sentence here, how does it fit into that discussion? 20 Well, it doesn't really speak to a problem with the block. 21 Um, so it doesn't flow with the rest of this discussion. 22 It doesn't make sense for us to break up the discussion of the many 23 problems of this block and the challenge that the sculptor was faced with to 24 include this detail about where the marble came from. 25 So we're going to del...
