Explanation for Question 20 From the Math (No Calc) Section on the 2017 April Sat

Question 20 says the function F is defined by F R is equal to 2 R minus four times R plus one square. 3 If F of H minus three is equal to zero, 4 what is one possible value of each? 5 So what we have to do here is plug H minus three in for 6 our set that equal to zero and solve for age. 7 So each minus three, 8 minus four times H minus three, 9 plus one squared is equal to zero H 10 minus three, minus four is just equal to H minus seven. 11 And that's times H minus three plus one, 12 which is just H minus two squared is equal to zero. 13 And this tells us that age is equal to seven and H 14 is equal to positive two. So either seven or positive two 15 would work as an answer.
